Information for this tour was contributed by Ed Cook.

The Valley 3 was built in 1975 and officially opened in 1976 with the Valley West Mall.

It was owned by Dubinsky Brothers from about 1976-1989. Dubinsky sold to Excellence in 1989, then Carmike bought out Excellence in 1991 and the Valley 3 was known as the "Carmike Valley 3". According to a 2001 Des Moines Register article by Kathy Bergstrom ("Carmike To Close 3 Iowa Theatres") it was closed August 25, 2001, the same day the Fleur IV Theatre in Des Moines was closed.

The mall was remodeled at least twice and the space was occupied by retail, then a restaurant "Kahunaville" which had it's ribbon cutting celebration on July 25, 2007. It then became the Ocean Beach Bar & Grill circa November 2008.
