Information for this tour was contributed by George Read.

The Shoppingtown was the first theatre in the U.S. to be constructed for Todd-AO. The original theatre, opened in 1956, was 1009 seats and was located in the rear and downstairs of a shopping mall. They closed it in 1969 and built a twin theatre at the end of the mall parking area. Both auditoriums had about 800 seats. After several ownerships and spliting two auditoriums into two and making it a four-plex, Hoyts Cinemas took over operation and closed that one and rebuilt in the mall proper with a 10-auditorium complex.
