The Mississippi Queen was constructed at Jeffersonville, Indiana, resembling a nineteenth-century paddle-wheeler and began passenger service in 1976. It included modern amenities including elevators, swimming pool, and movie theater.

Having no permanent mooring, the Mississippi Queen was in regular service throughout the region until passenger service ended in 2007 and the vessel was dismantled in New Orleans in 2011.
