Wayne Amusement Company opened the Quo Vadis on June 22, 1966, with The Glass Bottom Boat. In 1968, the Penthouse I & II opened on the upper level above the main auditorium, along with a small restaurant & bar. From the restaurant, the customers could see movies at the neighboring Algiers Drive-In and listen to the sound with headsets. The following year, a third floor theater and beer garden was announced, but it was never built. In 1970, the main auditorium was twinned, followed soon by the twinning of one of those screens and the conversion of the restaurant to an auditorium. The theater was sold to National Amusements in 1985.
In one fell swoop in January 2002, National Amusements closed their theaters in Auburn Hills, one of two buildings in Bloomfield Hills, and the Quo Vadis. A spokesperson claimed new competition for the Auburn Hills and Bloomfield Hills complexes, but gave no specific reason for the Quo Vadis.
