United Artists opened the first multiplex theater in Washtenaw County on October 5, 1973, with the movies "Electra Glide in Blue", "Rage" and "A Touch of Class". Originally four screens, three more were added before the theater closed. United Artists closed this theatre 7/27/2000.
In 2002, Madstone Theaters reopened the theater as an outlet for arthouse product. After Madstone failed as a corporation, brothers Phil and Greg Urrutia reopened the theater as the Village 7.
