Edwards Bakersfield Stadium 14 theatres opened on April 11, 1997, adding a third zone to Bakersfield and practically obliterating all other theatres in the process. Among the opening attractions were Anaconda, The Saint, Grosse Point Blank, Liar, Liar, The English Patient, Shine, Selena, and That Old Feeling.

Auditoriums range in size from 300 to 200 seats. Unlike many theatre complexes, even the smallest theatres feature good-sized screens and excellent projection and sound. All theatres use the Christie package of projectors, lamphouses and platters, with QSC amps and genuine Dolby SR and A analog back-up systems. One 300 seat house features all three digital formats, the other 300 seater features DTS and SRD, the remaining 12 houses feature 7 SRD units and 5 DTS units.

Edwards faced some competition itself with the opening of a Pacific 16 nearby, but business still appears strong. Today it is part of Regal Entertainment Group.
