Information for this tour was contributed by Bob Monaco. Tom Burnett built a two story stone structure; downstairs was a theatre and the upper floor was a hall. The theater provided movies for the colored community, as they were not allowed to attend the theater in downtown Bartow. The lower floor was also used for school plays and public meetings. The upper hall was called "The Blue Room" and the oak floor was used for dances. The upper floor was also used for school proms, weddings, and wedding receptions. Information was obtained from the Polk County Historical Society. Return to the top of this page or Return to the main page
