The Stonestown Theatre opened in 1970 as the "UA Cinema". The single screen sat over 1000 people. In late December 1973, it was closed and the huge auditorium cut in half. It re-opened as the "UA Stonestown Twin". The theater has showcased foreign and independent films with moderate success. In February 2004, new carpet was installed and in May the exterior was painted.
