Information for this tour was contributed by Dave Felthous. Built as a five-screen theater in 1981, the Grand was Sterling Theaters' first from-the-ground-up multiplex. It proved so successful that several years later three screens were added in a separate building across a breezeway from the original complex. Now part of the Loews Cineplex circuit, the Grand has fallen into disrepair in recent years. In the spring of 2002, Loews announced it would build a 16-screen theater at the nearby Alderwood Mall, leading to speculation that the Grand will close. Also uncertain is the future of Regal Entertainment Group's aging Alderwood 7 Cinema, just a few blocks from where the new Loews will be constructed.
