Information for this tour was contributed by Jim Harris. When the XIT Drive-In was built in the early 1950s on the Levelland Highway about two tenths of a mile south of Littlefield, it featured individual in-window speakers providing greater comfort to the audience, and this spelled the death of the old LFD Drive-In with its single outdoor speaker. There was a refreshment building attached to the projectionists bunker, and a small children’s playground stood at the front directly under the theater screen so that parents could keep an eye on their children while they played. The XIT closed around 1972. The XIT marquee stood until about 1978 or so, though there is no evidence of the XIT remaining today.
