The Empress Theatre's lobby and auditorium have been converted into office space, but the former stagehouse was used as a live music theatre for many years after the Empress closed until it closed down as the Heirloom Arts Theatre on November 17, 2015.

An article in the 11/9/1966 edition of the Bridgeport Telegram, announcing the oepnign of the new Cinema Theatre, stated that the Empress had showed its last film the previous Tuesday.
