The town of Kansas had one theatre with three different names. The Kansas Theatre opened with 200 seats in 1938. In 1948, the name was changed to the Joy. In 1953, it was changed to the Merchants, and then back again to the Joy in 1956. It closed in the early 1960s and has been torn down.
