Another Cap Lathrop theatre, the Empress underwent some pretty wild redecorating in 1953.

According to an article in the 6/15/1962 edition of the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, the final movie showed was "Lover Come Back" starring Rock Hudson and Doris Day. The same article stated the theatre opened in 1928 with the Marx Brothers in "Coconuts" and that the theatre building was Fairbanks' first concrete structure.
