Information for this tour was contributed by Daniel Gibbs. Nothing left of this Moderne gem but its facade. The Northway opened in 1937 and closed in the mid '70s. Shortly after the theatre closed, its neighboring drugstore -- perversely, named after the theatre -- bought the old building and gutted it. Having no use for the auditorium, they tore it down in 1995 and put in a bigger parking lot. Insult upon injury, they left the theatre's marquee (minus its "Y", which fell off in a storm -- it now reads "NORTHWA") to advertise the drugstore's sales. Nonetheless, the surviving pieces are a good example of a Moderne neighborhood house.
