Information for this tour was contributed by Ron Heberlee. The Phoenix Drive-In opened in 1940 as simply the Drive-In Theatre, and closed in 1983. There were 612 spaces and no snack bar. I think the building on the right is part of the Theater Motel. Speakers were blasting from the screen, there were no in-car speakers yet. In 1946 they tried in ground speaker under a grate beneath the cars. In the 50's they added Phoenix to the name because more Drive ins were built in the area: Cinema Park, Norhtern, Indian, Silver Dollar, Acres, Big Sky, Nu-View, Rodeo, Oasis, Pioneer, Roun Up. They are all gone now.
Postcards from the Ron Heberlee collection.
