Information for this tour was contributed by Mark Landa. The theater was closed as a movie theater in 1994 and renovated in 1996-98. It reopened as the Empire Arts Center in March of 1998 and has been operating as such since that time. The Empire Arts Center is a multi-use facility. Current seating is 411. The theater itself is not listed on the National Register alone but it was a contributing piece of making the downtown area of Grand Forks eligible for the Register.
