Information for this tour was contributed by Ken Roe. The building was erected in 1912 and was opened as a Salvation Army hall. In 1974 it was converted into the Hippodrome Cinema opening on 1st July. It closed in 1980, but was re-opened as the Hoover, later twinned and operated as the Chinatown Twin for its last few years.
