Information for this tour was contributed by Ken Roe. Listed on the register of the Historic Building Council in 1993. Built on the site of the Palais de Dance Pictures, a former ballroom that had a seating capacity of 4,000. This operated as a cinema from 1915 until it was burnt down in 1926. The current Palais Theatre is basically untouched from its original 1927 appearance and since closing as a full time cinema it has been used for live shows. Film presentations are still held there during the Melbourne Film Festival. Photos Photos remain the property of the Member and may not be reproduced without the written consent of the Member. |
