Information for this tour was contributed by Dave Felthous.

The Columbia was sold by local owners to the Seattle-based Sterling Theaters in 1945 and remained owned by them until the City of Longview obtained it in 1983. The city leases it to a nonprofit organization of local citizens which hires a professional manager to run it. It's used for concerts, plays, etc.

In 2010, the Columbia emerged from a year-long, $11 million retrofit, refurbishing, updating, etc., and had its first stage show in early February, a return engagement of the Smothers Brothers. The work they did is impressive, including careful restoration of original decor and relics. New seating in a classic design affords more leg room. This has reduced capacity from just over 1,000 to just over 800.
