The Embassy opened on October 17, 1927. The theater was built in a structure originating from 1916 and known as the National Theatre Building which contained apartments on the second floor and a silent movie and vaudeville theater on the ground floor. The National Theatre Building was gutted and the entire building used for the new theater.
