In its early years, this art deco theater featured vaudeville acts as a part of the show. The Criterion was built in 1932 to cater to well-to-do tourists during the Depression. Silk fabric lined the auditorium walls and the ceiling resembled a tent, with beams radiating from around a frosted-glass chandelier.
