The Ideal Theater opened as a movie theater in 1964.1

In 1991, the first several rows of seats were removed so that a stage could be built in front of the movie screen. On 17 October 1991, Wasatch Playhouse presented the first live theater in Davis County, "Reserve Two for Murder." The theater company hoped to present six plays a year. (1)

The Ideal Theater closed about 1998 because of a lack of profitability. (2) In November 1998 Clearfield city condemned seven businesses, including the Ideal Theater, to make way for the city's new $9 million, 70,000-square-foot city hall and justice center. (3) The theaer was demolished before 15 June 2000. (2)
