Information for this tour was contributed by Darren Snow. A poster popular among Route 66 enthusiasts depicts a series of classic cars cruising into this drive-in's entry gate at dusk. Founded in the late 1940s, the 66 had a capacity of nearly 800 cars. Operated by the local Wehrenberg chain, the drive-in survived into the 1990s until a developer earmarked the site for a grocery store and a Best Buy. After the demolition of the 66, an occupant of the resultant strip mall placed help-wanted ads bearing the tag line "Work along Historic Route 66!"
