During the late 1980s, Cinemark began building new theaters that opened as dollar shows, instead of simply converting older, formerly first-run theaters. That trend reached Plano on May 13, 1994, when the Movies 10 opened.

While certainly smaller and much less nice than a typical Cinemark, it was definitely a step up from most of the area dollar shows. It even boasted an auditorium with digital sound, which many first-run theaters still didnít have at that point.

I donít think Iíve ever attended the theater when it was any less than crowded, and on every weekend night (and weeknight during the summer and school breaks), itís always jam-packed full. The theater is still owned by Cinemark, but a couple of years ago, they moved the listings for it out of their main display ad and gave then their own, small ad ... one that doesnít mention the chain.
