Suburban Detroit Theaters opened the Eastland Mall 5 on December 20, 1985, just as AMC Theatres was buying up most of their properties. The Mall 5 was located inside the shopping center and operated separately from the Eastland 1&2, which was located in a separate building on the mall property.
