Built at a cost of $212,000, the Dearborn Theater had a small stage, but no dressing rooms or orchestra pit. It was similar in design the the Royal. The Dearborn opened with "Four Mothers" and "Tobacco Road", and was controlled by Wisper and Wetsman.
In 1969, a 300-seat auditorium called the Dearborn Living Room was added and the theater was sold to Wayne Amusement Company in 1973.
After a third screen was added, the Dearborn became known as the Dearborn Entertainment Center, and was one of the first cinemas in Michigan to serve alcohol.
National Amusements purchased the theater in 1986. By this time the main auditorium had been split into four screens. The new owner added another three screens and renamed it the Showcase Dearborn 1-8.
The last day of operation was September 4, 2006.
