Information for this tour was contributed by Daniel Fuentz. This building was built in 1947 as the Copley Theater, but it would close as a movie theater in 1952.
In 1953 it became home to Akron's only network-affilliated television station, ABC affilliate WAKR Channel 49. (They would move to a stronger facility on Channel 23 in 1967.) In 1997 station owner Paxson Communications dropped the ABC affilliation, cancelled all locally produced programming on the station, and moved operations to the facilities of Cleveland's NBC affilliate and sold the studio building to the church that currently occupies it.
