Information for this tour was contributed by Bob Monaco. Built in 1905 and owned by Frank L. Kemp, the theater was destroyed by fire on Friday, Jan 20, 1911. The fire started in the furnace in the basement, which exploded; the furnace was on to heat the room above for a basketball game. The first alarm was called at 6pm and the Plattsburg (32 miles north) and Ticonderoga fire departments responded. One fireman from Plattsburg was injured in the fire and died at a later date from his injuries. The only thing saved from the fire was a moving picture machine, which was carried out through the flames. Most of the block was destroyed. Later, the Bridge Theater was built behind where the Kemp Theatre had stood. The Kemp Theater was on the opposite side of the street from where the current Hollywood Theater stands.
