Information for this tour was contributed by Mike Olpin. The Marketplace at the Grove mall was some times referred to as College Grove, since that was one of the streets nearby. Most of the mall, including the theatre, was demolished in 1999 and rebuilt as the College Grove Shopping Center (the name finally reflecting what people had been calling the original mall for years). The famous neon marquee featured a majorette twirling a baton. The marquee was originally built in 1947 for the Campus Drive-In, and was was moved to The Grove when the theatre was built in 1988 as part of a refurbishment to the fledgling mall. (By the way, the Drive-In closed in 1983, so I guess the sign was in limbo for two years). The majorette part of the marquee is now located at the parking entrance to the new College Grove Center.
