Information for this tour was contributed by Grant Smith. In July 2004, ground was broken for the Union Heights development at 7800 South and 1300 East in Sandy. [1] The project includes a 16-screen theater, an office building, four retail buildings, and a 3-level parking structure. [2]
The Century 16 Union Heights theater opened on 20 December 2005 with a "Canned" Film Festival, benefiting the Utah Food Bank. Moviegoers were treated to a free movie in exchange for canned or non-perishable food items. The grand opening was held on the following day, 21 December 2005. The multiplex features stadium seating, Dolby Digital sound, and THX certification in all 16 theaters.
