Information for this tour was contributed by Paul Grant. The Capitol Theatre was sold to the Marcus Corp. in 1976 and was twined; at that time the name of the theatre was changed to the Park. The 2/8 Wurlitzer theatre organ was removed and installed the the new Racine Theatre Guild building. The theatre was closed in 1986 and sold to a local construction company, it has been allowed to slowly decay.
In April of 2004, a private group (Muri Entertainment LLC) purchased the theatre and has plans to completely restore the theatre as a movie and performing arts facility. Opening of the new Capitol Theatre for the Performing Arts was scheduled for September 2005. In September 2006, however, the building still sat unused.
