The Crossroads opened in 1988 and was the last theatre in the Puget Sound area to be built by Luxury Theatres prior to its takeover by Act III Theatres. This theatre replaced a notoriously bad four-plex in the same shopping center, which had been a typical example of the Luxury Theatre chain up to that point.

The new theatre was a vast leap ahead, and was arguably the best multiplex in the area for many years. The Crossroads boasts 8 screens, the largest of which was equipped with THX and 70MM capability. That giant showcase auditorium was also the first in the Seattle area to be outfitted with Dolby Digital, with the release of Batman Returns in 1992. It was further equipped with DTS Digital for Jurassic Park in 1993.

Regal subsequently bought the Act III circuit and eventually dropped the THX certification and retrofitted the theatre with stadium seating (and "Regalized" it), no doubt to keep up with the competition, but in turn spoiling a lot of what was special about one of the last great slope-floored builds.
