Information for this tour was contributed by Charles Creekmur.

The theater is now a storage warehouse for the Davis Furniture store located next door. It was owned and operated for years by Bill Hall of New London, TX who owned a grocery & market in the current Davis Furniture building. My family owned a grocery a block away and Mr. Hall had a large poster billboard on the side of our store. I grew up always having a free pass to the theater by only paying the dime tax on the ticket.

The Overton Theater was segregated up until the 1950s with a mezzanine for "colored only" upstairs. They bought their ticket from a window in the concession area while a ticket booth in the front between the two front doors served everyone else.

In the pictures displayed in the tour, the managers office was on the right and could be entered from the lobby or from a door on the street and the concession area was on the left.
