Information for this tour was contributed by Bob Monaco. The Au Sable Theatre was also known as King Ryan Theatre (owned by Kingsley Ryan), according to a current resident of the area. It was also on Main Street, on the opposite side of the road and south of the Hollywood Theatre. The Au Sable opened on February 17, 1937 (delayed a week waiting for projection equipment) with Johnny Mack Brown in "Range Law" and Gloria Jean in "Reckless Age"; and closed in March 1954. Tex Ritter was the first movie star to ever appear in person on an Au Sable Forks stage with a complete stage show, appearing at the Au Sable on August 11, 1940. A local appliance store was moved in after the theatre was closed. It was owned by one of the partners of the Hollywood Theatre (Lawrence Bean).
