Information for this tour was contributed by William T. Parr. The General Cinema Capital Plaza theatre was opened in 1963 as part of GCC expansion into Texas. This was their first theatre in Austin. In the mid 1970s, the theatre was tripled into 3 screens going from a single 1700 seat theatre to 3 400 seat theatres with mono sound. Auditoriums were also gunshot and the walls between them were just bare sheetrock which led to bleed over from the screen next door. The theatre closed in 1989 and was turned into a Night club for a while before becoming a church.
