The Attuck opened in 1919 and was known as the "Booker T" from 1933 until the theater closed in 1952. This theater closed before the end of segregation and thus operated as an all black theater for it's entire history. After the theater closed, the front entrance area was converted to a store and occupied for years by Stark & Legum. Restoration is underway and is expected to be completed in spring of 2003. Photos
