Information for this tour was contributed by Tom DeLay. The Merced opened in 1931 down the street from the original Merced Theatre (1921). The original architects for this theater were the San Francisco-based Reid Brothers. The rectangular marquee was later replaced with a large rounded one designed by S. Charles Lee.
