Built adjacent to the Esquire in 1947, the Studio became known as the Capri in 1958, the Encore in 1960 and the Plaza in 1975 shortly before its closure.
With the redevelopment of the K Street mall, the Studio (along with its neighboring Esquire Theatre) was incorporated into the Esquire Plaza office building. All but the facades of the theaters were demolished.
The Studio is currently home to the Esquire Grill restaurant and the Esquire was rebuilt as an Imax theater. Photos
