An article in the January 1993 issue of Boxoffice announced that AMC in a joint venture with Economics Resources Corp had formed Inner City Cinemas; at the time the nation's only African-American owned and operated theatre. This was the first theatre and was rechristened ICC Plaza 6. The article also mentioned that they were breaking ground on an 8-plex Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza Cinemas. (Later to open as the Magic Johnson Crenshaw 15)
