Information for this tour was contributed by Dean K. Fick. Lakeside, Orchestra Hall's home, is a seasonal gated community founded in 1873 with its roots in the Methodist Church, similar to Chautauqua, New York. The Lakeside grounds are a compound of cottages and historic structures. Admission is charged to the grounds during the summer months (June through Labor Day), when there are countless recreational activities and educational programs hosted each day as well as movies in Orchestra Hall.
Orchestra Hall was built in 1927 in Mission Revival style It has a smallish square screen with about 300 seats in the auditorium. Projectors are Super Simplex with first-generation Xenon lamphouses by Strong. They still use 20-minute reels and do changeovers, having converted away from carbon arc in the early 1990's. Sound is a mono Kelmar system installed in the 1980's; before that they used the tube-type Simplex Four Star sound.
