Information for this tour was contributed by Paul Ogden. APPAC, a local non-profit group, purchased the State Theater in March, 2006. APPAC has plans ultimately to reconstruct the Auburn State Theater into an 800 seat performing arts center, adhering to the historical fabric of the facility as closely as possible. The estimated cost of the reconstruction is $6-7 million. A capital campaign will be initiated sometime in the near future. Presently the State Theater does operate as a fine arts and second run movie theater. The facade has recently been restored to its 1937 likeness and colors with a new marquee and vertical blade sign installed.
