Information for this tour was contributed by Darren Snow. Steelville is a popular place for Meramec River float-trippers to "put in." As a result of this tourist trade, there are a couple of drive-in sandwich-and-ice-cream joints, a couple of picturesque motels, and a few antique-and-craft shops. There hasn't been a functioning movie theater for years, though. The Legion Theater was already out of business and looking pretty shabby by the time it appeared on a 1960s postcard. These days, the old theater building is doing pretty good business as a cafe.
