Nothing left of this Moderne gem but its facade. The Northway opened in 1937 and closed in the mid '70s. Shortly after the theatre closed, its neighboring drugstore -- perversely, named after the theatre -- bought the old building and gutted it. Having no use for the auditorium, they tore it down in 1995 and put in a bigger parking lot. Insult upon injury, they left the theatre's marquee (minus its "Y", which fell off in a storm -- it now reads "NORTHWA") to advertise the drugstore's sales. Nonetheless, the surviving pieces are a good example of a Moderne neighborhood house.
