Information for this tour was contributed by Daniel Gibbs.

The Palace opened in 1940 on the site of the 1898 Academy Theatre (which was renamed "Palace" in 1926). It was the first theatre in Virginia built with modern freon air-conditioning and closed about 1978.

Martin Theatres purchased all seven Gordon Theaters in the Newport News area in October of 1969.
