Information for this tour was contributed by Steve Mehlenbacher. In 1931 the owner of the Ideal Theatre built the Capital Theatre on the other side of Summer St., onto the back of the Sorenson/Leland Block on Main St. This theater closed after five months and then reopened as the Avon in 1936 with air conditoning.
The Springfield Theatre closed after a fire on July 7, 2008. It reopened on July 16, 2011 as a triplex called the Springfield Cinemas 3. Photos Photos remain the property of the Member and may not be reproduced without the written consent of the Member. |
