The Norva (get it? NORfolk, VA) was Norfolk's first "big time" movie palace. It opened in 1922, if I remember correctly. Anyway, the entrance shown in the listings is actually the old stage door. Its main entrance was at 324 Granby Street, and it could seat about 2000 when it opened. Although the Loew's State outdid it in ornate luxury, the Norva was always the real class act on Granby Street.
