Built at a cost of $102,000, the Campus was one of the few area movie theaters built in the 1950s. The theater opened on March 16, 1957, and featured a screen measuring 40-feet by 18-feet. The first film at this Butterfield theater was "Lust for Life". The theater was eventually purchased by Kerasotes Theatres and closed on January 1, 1987, with "King Kong Lives". The Campus has since been razed and replaced with a retail mall. Return to the top of this page or Return to the main page
