Royal Theater

The Royal opened on December 27, 1940, at a cost of $297,000, and was equipped with the luxury of air conditioning. The theater had a small stage, but no dressing rooms or orchestra pit. Opening night featured "Tin Pan Alley" and "The Westerner". The theater was jointly operated by United Detroit Theaters and Wisper & Wetsman, closed in 1969, and the property was sold to Grace Hospital.
