The RKO Uptown was opened on March 7, 1927, as a vaudeville house and was equipped with an organ. In 1954, it became the Six Mile Uptown, and simply the Six Mile in 1959. In 1974, the theater migrated to burlesque shows and later adult films. The theater was leased in 1980 by a group planning a major renovation and legitimate shows, and renamed The Eighties. The theater was razed in the late 1980s.
