Information for this tour was contributed by Robert Hill. Sluckempucker Industries remodeled and reopened the Roxy. The architect on the job was ELA out of Tucson - the same company working on the historic Fox Theater in Tucson.
The theater was opened in 1936 in a building on Navajo Boulevard, and the most recent closure occurred in 1994. Having been closed for almost ten years and being nearly 50 years old, there are some major infrastructure and equipment renovations necessary.
Owners Wade and Sandy Carlisle and Jeff and Amber Hill have been working diligently since their purchase - over the last two years-in their free time (as all four work full time jobs) on the theater. They are now seeking financing to finalize construction and reopen the theater not only as a show house, but also as a community venue.
Being a small town with limited financial resources, Holbrook is want for community cultural venues - the Roxy will provide a place for the community organizations to gather for special events throughout the year.
